Isn't AVMRA a motorcycle club? What's the difference?
NO! AVMRA stands for the AMERICAN VETERANS MOTORCYCLE RIDERS ASSOCIATION. The word Association is not to be confused with "club". We are NOT a motorcycle club. We ride as a group. We are a conformed organization of people that love to ride and ride for a cause. Our vests are black and sport RIBBONS & INSIGNIAS, not "COLORS" AVMRA has any intention on becoming an "MC" (Motorcycle Club) ever at this time, and these are two separate entities.

Do you have to be a veteran to join?
NO. AVMRA is the only veterans organization that has non-veterans as members. We have two separate types of ribbons and insignias. If you are a veteran with an honorable discharge, your ribbons and insignias will have your service years on the back along with a shadow of a soldier embedded into the center. Non Veterans do not have a soldier embedded on the back side of their vest. Non-veteran members do not require being a wife, daughter, or child or a veteran, everyone is welcome.

What about children? Some parents are single and have children with them often, are children allowed to be at events and meetings?
We love children. Children are very welcome at our meetings and at the majority of events. Children are invited to become "junior" members as well. The dues for junior members are the cost of their junior member patch. We do many events that involve children and your kids would have a lot of fun as well as a learning experience.

Do you have to have to ride a motorcycle?
NO! It does not matter if you ride or not. We have many members who help out at events in any way possible. Everyone is welcome.

If your husband or father is/was a veteran, can you join as a veteran member?
No. All veteran members are indeed, veterans. This is one of the reasons we have associates members. Associates are members that are not veterans or family members of vets. To be an established veteran member, you must submit a copy of your DD-2-14. Only veterans have these papers.

What if you cannot attend meetings?
AVMRA is very family orientated. We understand people can't be everywhere all the time. FAMILY, WORK, SCHOOL COMES FIRST! We ask that members at least attempt to participate in at least 6 events a year. It's not a lot to ask; even making a contribution of your time at home, per say, calling members in regards to events can help. We have various events throughout the year at various days of the week and times. If you cannot make the meetings, we are sure you can find another way to show your support.

Do you have to live in a certain town or area to choose which chapter you are interested in joining?
NO. Conveniently, it would make sense to join a chapter closer to your home. Many members do join chapters locally, then move away, yet remain in the same chapter. Some members may move and then transfer to a chapter closer to their new home. Often, members bring family or friends to meetings that do not live locally. These guests at our meeting may decide they like what they see and opt to join a chapter along with a friend or family member, whether it is local or not for them. We welcome all new members openly.

Can I transfer to another chapter at any time I wish?
That is a hard question to answer. Members often transfer out of one chapter to another for various reasons. Some are personal reasons, some are because of their job, some because they move. Some chapters will not allow a disgruntled member transfer into their chapter. Personal issues do not belong in AVMRA. If you are member that is not in good standing, it may be hard for another chapter to allow you into theirs. If you are a member under "suspension" you may not transfer. Only members in good standing will be welcomed to transfer to another chapter.

What if I transfer out to another chapter and I don't like the way they do things, can I come back to my first chapter?
That will be up to the chapters. If a member transfers to another chapter because they are not happy with their current chapter, it may not be easy to come back to your previous chapter. Some chapters are not instilling a probation rule. If you come back, you may be put on a probation period to ensure your sincerity.
